Endimión y la Luna

After several forays into the performing arts, Harmonia del Parnàs presents a musical recreation of the fable ‘Endimión y la luna’ by the Valencian playwright Gaspar Aguilar, an author almost unknown today despite the great fame he enjoyed in his time.

Endimión y la luna is a true hymn to love in which drama and music merge, in the manner of the first Fabula in musica that would emerge in precisely those years, when composers were poets and poets were composers, music served the text and its message, and the metre of both fused into one.

Commemorative Symposium: 300th anniversary of Pere Rabassa’s treatise (1720-2020)

Music and its learning through treatises: 300th anniversary of Pere Rabassa’s Guía para los principiantes (1720-2020).

The congress was organised by the TEMPUS Centre for Musical Research and Dissemination in collaboration with the University Institute for Creativity and Educational Innovation (IUCIE) of the Universitat de València, the Centre del Carme, the Consell Valencià de Cultura, the Department of Historical Sciences (Musicology) of the CSIC and the national working group RISM-Spain. It aimed to present the Hispanic theoretical treatises of the first half of the 18th century and to reflect on their contributions, both in their own time and today.

It comprised nine papers, three round tables, a concert cycle with repertoire by Pere Rabassa and the presentation of communications, in a hybrid format (in person and online).

The Symposium received public funding from the Institut Valencià de Cultura – Conselleria d’Educació, Cultura i Esport (Generalitat Valenciana), which granted €12,741.
